About the position

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of the forklift driver/picker is to transfer, receive, pick, issue, and return materials in the correct quantity, from the correct batch, the correct stock code, the correct stock description; non-expiring product or soon to expired at a reasonable rate for customer orders as per the daily packing plan according to the FIFO principle. Responsible for best warehouse practises applied, system and physical movement, handling of all materials to eliminate loss or damage of products physically or systematically. Responsible for correct standards of palletising, racking and storage. Responsible for correct stock holding re bin locations. Responsible for excellent hygiene, housekeeping and food safety, safety health and environmental standards in work area.

SCOPE OF JOB:

Finance

  • Drive cost reduction whilst optimizing resources and meeting resource requirements continuously.
  • Minimize and/or eliminate accountable and unaccountable product losses.
  • Effective and efficient planning to meet daily warehouse and operational need.
  • Reduce waste in identifying and eliminating non-value adding activities in the operation/BOM through fostering an environment for innovativeness, trial-and-error, and dynamic work teams.
  • Usage of consumables within the set parameters per material, and in alignment with the departmental set budget.
  • Abuse of operational equipment / materials eliminated and held accountable.

  • Wastage eliminated and negligence by employee held accountable.

  • Drive 100% accurate materials preparation to eliminate wastage due to incorrect lot numbers supplied, incorrect materials used, poor quality, incorrect quantities prepared.
  • Report material handling, equipment, operational equipment, and stock damages immediately to the Supervisor or HOD.

CUSTOMER

  • Ensure all materials for each batch planned on the Packing Lines are ready at the right time in the correct quantities, with the correct batch information.
  • Ensure world class preparation for production - correct lots, correct quantities, correct stock codes, holes, broken seams) etc.
  • Responsible to ensure that the right materials, in the right quantity at the right quality is supplied to the packing lines at the right time.
  • Material to be clearly identifiable.
  • Ensure all prepared materials are verified prior to issuing and hand over.
  • Ensure all prepared material returns are verified prior to accepting returns from the Packing lines.
  • Ensure that all materials on job cards are issued accurately and timeously
  • All material prepared must be posted to the jobs in WMS in real time prior to actual packing of the product to ensure that the processing of job cards is not delayed and that the correct stock levels are reflected in the system.

PROCESS

  • Ensure raw materials and materials are received, stored, handled, issued, and returned according to system and process policies and procedures.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures regarding the receiving, handling, storage and issuing of raw materials and materials.
  • Production Warehouse (B03) to be cleared of packed products / returned products daily by means of accurate and on-time transfers to and from WH16, A14 bins, and or other Warehouses as per Company procedure. Transfers to be in real time systematically and physically, and all products transferred signed off with the relevant receiving warehouses/production as per Company procedure.
  • Materials to be (1) received from and (2) issued accurately and timeously from/to the packing lines as per the job card requirements and the systems updated in real time accordingly to reflect correct and accurate stock levels.
  • 100% Lot traceability always (WH16 / A14).
  • Resolve internal queries relating to processes and movements of products and raw materials timeously.
  • Ensure quick follow up on ON-HOLD and quality batches to minimize stock standing in warehouse by liaising with the Production Supervisor II.
  • Ensure tight control on movement in the Production Warehouses (WH16, A14).

  • Accurate Stock Control through cycle counts, FIFO principles and procedures, SYSPRO/WMS/TL transactions.

  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures with regards to geographical cycle counts, stock counts, stock rotation, 100% lot traceability, FIFO principles and SYSPRO/WMS required transactions.
  • Review of essential daily reports in WMS i.e. Balance Report and the SOH Report etc.
  • Balance Report cleared daily.
  • Accountable for material movements in the warehouse A14.
  • Ensure that material's physical location in the warehouses always match the material's location in SYSPRO/WMS (100% lot traceability).
  • Ensure that soon to expiry dates, last turn date, and QC issues are monitored and resolved.
  • Ensure that all samples removed from the warehouse are accounted for and transferred to the appropriate warehouse.
  • Ensure 100% accurate handover, issue and return process and procedures are followed in A14.
  • Drive Quality, Food Safety, Environmental Awareness, Safety, Security and Health in the workplace whilst assessing Risks continuously.
  • Ensure daily housekeeping is done according to the Master Cleaning Schedule and that inspections are done as per company procedures and all deviations are rectified immediately (A14, WH16).
  • Ensure that spillages are cleaned immediately and that broken bags are treated as per Food Safety Regulations.
  • Ensure the overruns are managed according to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that cleaning equipment is used and stored as per Food Safety Regulations.
  • Ensure that broken pallets are removed out of circulation to prevent damages or contamination.
  • Ensure that layer pads are placed between product and pallets.
  • Ensure proper stacking and storage practices are carried out.
  • Report any sub-standard packaging, damaged packed product or pallets received from the packing lines and internal suppliers to the Production Supervisor II.
  • Non-conformance reported and actioned immediately.
  • Building and infrastructure must be compliant to Food Safety Regulations. All deviations reported and maintenance done to ensure continuous adherence.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for employees.
  • Non-compliance reports to be investigated and actioned immediately. Root causes identified and the appropriate preventative and corrective measures taken and documented.

VALID REACHTRUCK AND COUNTERBALANCE LICENSE IS A REQUIREMENT**
